Are you getting tired of running the same path for your morning exercise or going to the same gym class each week? It's time for change - so it's time you did exactly that! Take advantage of the summer weather and take your exercise to the water. Once you get into a swim routine you will immediately begin to notice the benefits! Some of these include:

Challenge yourself

Kickstarting your swimming will open up a whole new world of opportunities. If you are up to the challenge and want to take your fitness to the next level, you can! As well as partaking in lessons for fun and fitness, there is also the option to strive for an even bigger, overall goal. Now that events like the Rottnest Swim and Port to Pub swim are ramping back up, now is the perfect time to start your preparations for the years to come. For some, these long distance swim events do not sound too enticing - instead focus your attention on hitting a certain time per km or improving technique, the bar is set by you!

Low impact

Whether your suffering from an injury or want a low impact exercise to break up your regular workout routine, swimming is perfect! The buoyancy of the water means there is less pressure mounted on your weight bearing joints while you get your workout in. As it is a low impact exercise, it also makes it great for a wide range of ages and abilities.

Mental Health

Just like other forms of exercise, swimming is great for your mental health. At this time of the year it is common for the stresses of work, life and commitments slowly start to build up. Getting in the water is super relaxing, as it gives you 30 minutes of undivided time to unwind and detach from our phones and responsibilities. Lap swimming is also one of the only excercises where you can switch your, as with running you're constantly observant of potential cars and pedestrians.

Save your pennies

With summer fast approaching, swimming for exercise is virtually free. Slip on your swimsuit and head to the beach for a refreshing dip in the sunshine. Even if you live a decent distance from the nearest beach or prefer not to tackle the waves, entry to most leisure centers is as little as six dollars. With December & January often taking it's toll on your bank balance, swimming is the perfect way to save while maintaining your fitness.

Variety

Add some variety to your daily grind! It can become easy to fall into a comfortable workout routine, attending similar classes each week or going for your daily run around the local area. Break out of your same old routine and give swimming a go. Try adding in one swimming day to your week and notice the difference. Switching up your routine regularly is a great way to keep your exercises exciting and actually look forward to working out!

At HBF Stadium, our lane availability is updated every day to make sure you find the best time to swim! Our Adult Swim Fit classes are also perfect for those that are ready for the next step in their swim journey and a great way to keep yourself accountable. Held at convenient times, it's the perfect opportunity to try something new in a social and encouraging environment.
