Get to know our swim instructor Bridgette
Meet Bridgette, Swim School Instructor and Pool Deck Supervisor. A keen swimmer herself, anytime of the year, she loves teaching others to enjoy the water too.
Q: How long have you been a swim instructor at HBF Stadium?
I have been an instructor since July 2019
Q: What day and ages do you teach?
I teach Tuesday, Friday and Saturday, taking Level 5's up to squads.
Q: What are your certifications/qualifications?
- Austswim teacher of water safety
- First Aid Certificate
- CPR Certificate
- Working with children
- National Police Clearance
Q: What is the best part about teaching at HBF Stadium?
I love how engaging and fun my work is. Everyday has new surprises, and I love all the laughs I get to have with the kids I teach.
Q: Why do you think it is important for everyone to become a competent swimmer?
Swimming is such an amazing part of Australian culture, there is nothing like a swim at the beach.
Q: Do you have a number one swimming or teaching experience?
Teaching my first adult client to swim when they had very little experience in the water. Seeing her new confidence was amazing.
Q: What is something people may not know about you?
I did a Rottnest Channel team swim when I was 14 and was so scared of the jellyfish that I wore a 'stinger-suit'.
Q: Tell us about your favourite activities or hobbies that you like to do for fun.
I love to go to the beach, even in the middle of winter!
As well as our knowledgeable, experienced and friendly instructors like Bridgette, at HBF Stadium we offer classes with low ratios to ensure maximised learning. Swimming classes at HBF Stadium are continuous with a six week break in the December/January school holidays when our Summer Holiday Swim takes off, so kids are consistently progressing their skills.
