Tips to help you stick to your fitness goals

As we head into the last two months of the year and our work and social commitments begin to pick up, often our motivation and fitness can take a back seat. To give your motivation a boost we have put together a list of our top tips to ensure you keep smashing your goals during the festive season!
Make a start
The time to start is now! Let’s face it, there is no ‘perfect’ or ‘right’ time to get started on your fitness journey. Get a head start on those that are waiting for the new year to make a change and get going on your goals today! If you’re not too sure where a good starting point is, most gyms will more than happily offer you a fitness evaluation and beginner program to get you started and comfortable using the equipment.
Set aside a time
As the year starts to reach its end and the work and social commitments begin to build up in time for the festive season, often the first thing to drop out of our daily routine is our fitness. When life begins to get in the way, the easiest way to make sure you stick to your workouts is to set aside a time each day that is dedicated to your fitness. If you know you are busy in the mornings with school drop offs or work, make a time at lunch or in the afternoon to head to the gym. Having a dedicated time will help you manage your commitments around your gym time, instead of trying to fit in fitness into your busy schedule.
Recruit a friend
Another great way to ensure you are continually tracking against your goals is to take someone along with you for the ride! Recruiting a fitness buddy is a perfect way to keep yourself accountable when heading to the gym and can also be a great source of motivation during your workout. Bringing along a friend to your workout sessions is also a great way to make the gym less daunting for beginners, you can also be there for each other if you need a spotter or support as well as a great way to introduce new workouts and exercises to each other.
Switch it up
Repeating the same workout routine week in and week out can become quite tiring and actually be counterproductive for your motivation. Next time you notice your inspiration starting to slip, try adding in something different to your routine to spice things up! Whether its taking your workout outside on a nice day, booking a personal training session or attending a group fitness class, all of these are a great and easy way to keep your routine refreshing, exciting and your motivation consistent.
Treat Yourself
Sometimes the things that get us most motivated is recognizing our hard work and how far you have come along your fitness journey. Rewarding yourself doesn’t have to be about splurging on any food you want, it can be booking yourself into a spa day or taking a break from the gym and heading away for the weekend. Some time away from the gym can be just what you need to come back even stronger and more motivated!
