Geothermal Bore to Drive Sustainability
Reading time: 5 minutes

Patrons at Perth HPC may have noticed a large industrial drill taking over Carpark 4.
Work has begun on the installation of a new geothermal bore, which is part of a major upgrade to our pool heating system. The project includes replacing the current production bore and upgrading pool heat exchangers, which will significantly improve our energy efficiency.
Once complete, the new system will almost entirely eliminate gas use for pool heating, delivering a large reduction in our carbon footprint.
The carpark will be blocked off (to house the drill) from September 2025 until February 2026. The drilling phase is expected to take 6–8 weeks, which may be noisy at times, with the upgrades scheduled for completion by February 2026.
While there will be some temporary disruption to parking, this project aligns to our commitment to a sustainable future, benefiting VenuesWest, our patrons, and the environment.
On the note of sustainability, VenuesWest has been using solar power since 2017 and we're proud to share the below results from August 2025.
A total of 46,230.30 kWh of solar energy was generated across 8 of our venues, helping reduce operational costs and our environmental footprint. This is the equivalent of baking over 1.5 million cupcakes in a standard electric oven.
We will keep patrons informed of any changes or other disruptions relevant to this project.
