Keep the kids active these school holidays!

With the school holidays only two weeks away now is the perfect time to start thinking about ways to keep the kids active and entertained during the summer break!
With the school year coming to a close, this also signals the end of school P.E lessons and after school activities. Therefore, it is so important to think of as many ways to keep the kids active, healthy and away from their screens these school holidays. To help we have listed our top 4 tips to ensure kids are burning off their excess energy and soaking up the sunshine during the break.
Family activities:
Getting the kids active doesn't just have to involve them participating in sports. As Christmas is a time that should be spent surrounded by your loved ones, round up your family and head down to your nearest beach or playground for some active family fun! To get yourselves into the Christmas spirit, check out the Free Christmas Festival returning to Stadium Park this November and December. With food trucks, market stalls, the Jingle Bar, children’s activities, DJ sets, roving entertainers and two movie screenings each night, it is fun for the whole family!
Gift them active presents:
With Christmas just around the corner, when shopping for Christmas presents to give the kids this year think about getting them something that will encourage physical activity. For example, a soccer net, netball hoop or a trampoline are all great presents that the kids can continue using throughout the holidays. It can even be something as small as a soccer ball or a hula hoop. Receiving a new present will generate their excitement to use it and get them active in the meantime.
Get them outside:
When kids are kept inside it is often easier for them to become distracted by electronic stimulation and less motivated to participate in activities that involve exercise or head outside on their own accord. So these school holidays get them out into the sunshine as much as possible by seizing every opportunity to vacate the house and into some fresh air. This could either be going for a walk to the local shops or going for a picnic at your nearest park. It doesn't have to involve a strenuous amount of exercise, it is more about getting the kids away from the temptation of their electronics.
Enrol them into a holiday program:
Holiday programs are a great way to keep the kids active during the holidays as well as helping to curb the holiday boredom! Not only do these programs keep the kids playing outside, but it also gives you the opportunity to enjoy some more me-time during the most chaotic period of the year! These programs also provide the perfect chance for kids to trial a new sport and strengthen their social skills.
At HBF Stadium these summer holidays we will be offering some of the best kids activities Claremont has to offer! With three holiday programs running including Kids Sports Club, holiday swim and holiday gymnastics classes.
